Another new change with Shadow Warrior 3 Definitive Edition is the Hero Mode for the story playthrough. Hero mode makes it, so you have a limited amount of lives in a playthrough. If you lose those lives, you’ll have to restart the entire story mode again. It is a good test to see how well you remember the game and some of the tricks for each arena.
Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2 is a game that has some great elements of simulation for building up your prestigious academy for future heroes, but is bogged down by bugs, glitches and interesting mechanic decisions.
Charade Maniacs is a fun mystery visual novel but it isn't the best with its Otome elements. There is a big cast of characters that are all interesting in their own way, but not enough time with each one to feel fully invested in the relationship.
Anime vs Evil: Apocalypse is an enjoyable game at its core with the shooting mechanics and the character designs, but the lack of content and variety does hinder it.
Star Ocean: The Divine Force is a competent game in the Star Ocean franchise but it is hindered by some in game decision with menus, quest logs, and the party member AI. It isn't the best transition to 3D from the art, but playing and fighting enemies is very enjoyable.
Dragon Ball: The Breakers is a solid game loop that feels fun to play, especially if you are with friends. However the progression system and the cosmetics have much to be desired. Hopefully the longer this game stays in service, the better the options become.
Pretty Girls Escape is a puzzle game akin to BreakThru! but with added features and mechanics. It doesn't add a whole lot but it does add enough to be engaging and a satisfying puzzle game.
Amnesia: Later x Crowd is a fun expansion into the world of Amnesia. It requires knowledge of Amnesia: Memories and takes place as sequels. The sad part is it doesn't have a lot of content combining the two games together.
Jack Move has a lot of great mechanics and customization that ultimately doesn’t get utilized due to some poor balancing. The art design and music are fantastic and we hope to see more from this world.
Nine Noir Lives has some of the best voice acting and animation you can see in an indie point and click game. Sadly it does get bogged down by the pacing and relevancy of its puzzles to the main game.
Enjoy the timeless adventure of Chrono Cross but with only a slight amount of upgrades to the game and with an AI upscaler that makes the game play like your PlayStation is on Death's row. Great game but a sad remaster.
Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires improves upon the foundation of Dynasty Warriors 9 but it still has a large amount of issues that comes from AI, the textures and the overall feel of the open world being bland. Combat is tighter and the invasion maps feel satisfying.
VanillaBeast Retro: Knock-Out! is a wacky game with some adult humor and challenging difficulty as it adds a spin on the gameplay loop of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out! It takes some patience to get good at the game but it often doesn't feel worth it to beat the next boxer.
Loop8: Summer of Gods has a very interesting premise with stunning visuals and amazing music. The creativity in the game can hold back other parts of the mechanics.
Mugen Souls is a fun game when you don't look too much into the intricacies of the gameplay and characters. It has value giving more Disgaea type ridiculousness but not with Disgaea.
Samurai Maiden is an enjoyable action Hack and slash game that has great visuals. The combat in the game is solid, but not all the mechanics are quite as polished as its combat. An enjoyable story that picks up quite a bit in the second half of the game. These characters are great and I do want to see more of them in the future!
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a very engaging and entertaining game. It has a lot of technical and graphical issues when you want to play it but you don't have to notice as you are focused solely on killing the agents of Chaos.
A console sequel to the Shin Megami Tensei series that I wish the game had stronger hardware to utilize. The combat is still enjoyable and is the reason to play the game, everything else is just an afterthought and it shows.
Fate/Samurai Remnant is a fantastic Musou game that adds more layers and mechanics to what it means to be a Musou game. It also has a story highly reminiscent of the other action-based Fate Series anime. Though, it does hurt that the games' performance suffers
Affogato has a lot of great mechanics for exploration tied into its own coffee brew. There may be some difficulty spikes and a game that ties itself down after opening up, but overall it's a great time.
